I'm starting a new campaign in June.
It will be online (which isn't ideal, but a necessity), and will have just three players. I have kept the number of players low as I think too many is difficult online and I like the idea of having 2-3 players.
Each player will be making up to 2-3 characters, and they can choose which they play each session. And the sessions will be about 3 hours long each week.
The campaign is an open world sandbox style where the characters will own and run a small farm, which they will use as a homebase. They will need to keep the farm running as well as adventuring, and I have devised some simple rules for maintaining and growing the farm.
I spent some of yesterday mapping out the locations and some factions and rumours.
The village they are attached to has grown up around a newly built castle by an exiled prince who has found gold in the mountains to the south. He is carving out a nice little kingdom for himself. Of course, there will be factions opposing this as they will see it as a threat for various reasons. This should add some level of intrigue and tension to the campaign.
There are also the usual ruins and dungeons for characters to explore. And local, wilderness threats in the form of monsters and bandits.
I'm looking forward to running a campaign again, and it will detail a part of Aythia (my campaign world) which I haven't touched yet.
