Somewhat inspired by @adam 's post about AI players for D&D, I did this for about 3 hours the other day and it worked surprisingly well.
I used ChatGPT (Charlie), Gemini (Gregor), and Co-Pilot (Chloe) as players and we started an open-world sandbox-type game. I got them to make up OSE characters, which they knew how to do, with a few errors.
They were pretty much newbie players at this point, with me guiding them on what to do and fixing up any mistakes. Once we started playing though, it got a lot better.
They made up an elven magic-user, a human magic-user, and an elven fighter/magic-users (they all rolled high for Intelligence).
The only issue I had while playing was with Co-Pilot who I had to keep reminding not to describe the world, but to react to what I tell them. They really took on the personas of the characters they created.
It was a lot of typing, but pretty rewarding. They split up to find accommodation and Chloe decided her character would find a temple to pray at. It was on her way back that had a runaway horse and cart nearly killed her, but she cast Sleep on the horse and stopped it before anyone was hurt. Pretty cool stuff.
They even kept track of money spent and spells used.
All and all, it was pretty cool, and it is something you could do sporadically, which is nice, picking up just where you left off. Running three different AI's was a bit of a annoyance after a while, but doable.
I will write a move thorough blog post about it soon.
